How can we as a society benefit from AI technologies without losing control?

This central question drives my research. As a PhD student and university assistant at the Institute of Software Engineering and AI at TU Graz (Austria), I work on empowering the users of AI systems by improving their explainability, transparency, and understandability. With a strong focus on Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI, I design intelligent approaches for both software engineers and everyday users. Through empirical user studies, I evaluate how people actually perceive and interact with these systems, ensuring we benefit from AI while keeping conscious, human control.
